A mothers nerves

So I'm sitting here waiting for the physical therapist that is going to come and evaluate my son at 4:00 today. Both of my children are sleeping peacefully - finally, and I can't even resume cleaning my house like I told my husband I would because I'm so nervous for what the PT might say about Vinny.

See, Mr. Vinny will be 2 in November and still has not taken the leap to walk on his own yet. He'll walk along furniture, or push a chair around the room but won't let go and do it HIMSELF.
Some people say he's perfectly fine, and will do it when he's ready since the motor skills are apparently there. Others have worried me by saying that something may not be connecting in his brain that will allow him to walk independantly.

I think he's just stubborn and lazy like his mumma! : )

But I'm sitting here bouncing my knee up and down at roughly the speed of a supercharged Vespa because the mom in me wants everything to be ok with her little boy.

Maybe by getting this off of my chest, I can get back to work around the house so my hubby doesn't give me that "what did you do all day?" look when he comes home.

Lets hope the therapist works some magic and the next time I write about this will be to say Mr. Vinny is dancing in a chorus line.

P.S. If any of you out there have dealt with a similar situation with your children or children you know, please put my mind at ease and share your experience with me, cause at times, I really feel alone in how to deal with this.

You named your son Vinny?

I always thought that that was given to you with your diploma from mechanic's school, after demonstrating that you properly know how to gouge housewives on changing the transitor fluid.

I guess I was wrong. Live and learn.

Anyhow, I hope Vinny is okay.

Actually his name is Vincent,
and I'm assuming "skippystalin" was the name your God Fearing mother gave to you?

How is Mr. Vinny doing? Any Works of God since the PT was there? Like he's walking a miracle mile and you haven't seen him since?? ;)

Ally G.,
Thanks for your comcern. Actually Vinny is doing well, the PT said they she doesn't think it will take more than 3 or 4 appointments to thier center for him to get back on track.

We have to go tomorrow for our first appointment. They said there will be a trampoline, and a slide and a ball pit, so I'm sure he'll have a blast!

I'll let you know about that miricle mile as soon as I sign him up for it!

P.S. and I apologize for my misspellings

typically I'm a good speller, but I spent six hours today teaching youngsters to walk the runway

and well, they're just hopeless.

It's drained any intellect I had left right out of me,
HMMMM..
no intellect, can't spell, I should go blog with my Maple Leaf friends!

Oh dear, if your Maple Leaf friends see this, what conclusions will they draw about the similarities between your runway youngsters and our beloved Mr. Vinny? :O

Very glad to hear the PT had a positive forecast. Have you considered taking Vinny to Chuck E. Cheese or Adventure Land and avoid the expense of the doctor(s)? Although, you might have to take your husband and all his enginerd friends along, which is more than any one person should have to deal with. It would be sure to give you plenty more material for your blog!

Keep us posted on Mr. Vinny's progress. I'm very excited for you!

You may have a point about the runway walk vs teaching my son how to walk...but the difference is, the parents of these children are paying thousands of dollars for thier kids to come to this modeling school/agency in hopes that they will become the next big thing.
And I just don't want to have to carry Mr. Vinny anymore because he's too damn heavy, and he'll be taller than me in another year!

My Canadian friends are great at connecting topics that otherwise would be irrelevant...
and they swear they're not republicans.

I'll let you know how his treatment goes today!

Thanks Ally G!

What would happen if you gave those runway walkers a cup of jello, I wonder? Make it a tub of jello, and both the Americans and Canadians want photos of THAT shoot!!!

ah, seriously. How was the PT visit yesterday?

The PT went well. Vin was pretty overwhelmed at all of the toys, so when ever the therapist aked Vinny to come "play" with something she'd set up to evaluate him, he'd say "NO" and go over to something else! It was actually pretty funny.

She was a little more hands on with him than the other therapist was, and maybe it was a little too soon, because he didn't feel comfortable with her yet...so he just screamed at her.

He did make some progress as she was able to evaluate him as he stood
(most times on his own without knowing it)and played with a tool set and a kitchen set.

I'm hoping Vin will remember the PT next Monday and he won't sress out so much as he gets more and more used to that environment.

hahaha ... I'm trying to figure out if Mr. Vinny is taking after his mumma or daddy. Poor PT, doesn't stand a chance, does she?

Sounds like Vinny's back on track?

Haven't heard a status report on Mr. Vinny in quite awhile and wondering how things are going. You haven't been at your blog in well over a week and wondering what's going on with YOU? Everybody ok? Did the Canandian get you?

Hey Ally, Thanks for checking in.
Vinny is doing well and comming along, day by day.
He loves to push the chairs around the kitchen now, and of course he barely hangs onto them, it's more for his mental secutity.

Therapy today did NOT go well at all though.
Vin has been sick for the past week and he did not take kindly to Susie (the PT) attempting to make him stand and walk. Sreaming and cring for 25 minutes while I'm trying wipe his nasty little runny nose- from all of the crying.

Next week, they're comming HERE to work with Vinny. So we'll have to see how that goes.
For now, I'm trying to plan his big shin dig for his b day.
JUNGLE THEME! What kid doesn't like animals right? Maybe he'll walk for his party.

Hey-I can dream.

Does your insurance cover all of this? A home visit sounds EXPENSIVE!
